Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie with Superfood on Top!

I’ve really been into spending time in my kitchen this week. I don’t know what’s gotten into me. Maybe it’s all the excitement that Summer is over and Fall is around the corner. Tonight I took one of my teacher trainee’s led primary series class. It was an hour and a half of breath and sweat. By the time we got to Savasana all I wanted was a shower and a smoothie. As soon as I got home I whipped up this little ditty and boy did I wish I made a double batch. I couldn’t not share this one!

Combine in a Vitamix or other high power blender (in this order): 12 whole fresh strawberries, 1 whole banana, 1  cup almond milk, 2 tablespoonsful local honey, 1 tablespoonful cacao powder, 2 tablespoonsful dried goji berries, 1 tablespoonful chia seeds, and if you’re in the mood for some dairy and extra protein, 1/2 cup low fat greek yogurt


Strawberries have tons of Vitamin C to help your immune system, and cacao and gogis are loaded with antioxidants. I’m trying to get extra healthy over the next couple weeks so I can get the most out of David Keil’s Mysore intensive and workshops at Lehigh Valley Yoga this weekend and David Garrigues’ Mysore intensive in the Outer Banks. I love getting back on track!

  1. Can’t wait to try this! What’s your favorite honey? So many out there and as I learn more about local, raw, closer to the hive- any suggestions?

    • Local and raw is best. Usually health food stores will carry it sooner than a grocery sore will. Local raw honey contains lots of properties to help with seasonal immunity. I’ve recommended eating local daily (just a tablespoonful or two) honey to quite a few people who were suffering from allergies and they swear it helped them get off of medication!
      I live in northeastern PA and my favorite honey is from Bear Honey Farms in Moorestown, PA.

  2. I’m in love with my Vitamix also! And nothing beats a healthy smoothy after a hard workout (I’m a Bikram fan myself).
    Also, about local honey: my husband has 1 tsp in his coffee every morning and it has really helped his allergy symptoms. We are lucky and have a bee keeper right down the street. We often see his bees on our flowers! You can’t get more local than that!
