Fist Pump: It’s Smoothie Season!!!

It’s been a whopping 20 days since my last post. Those 20 days have been packed with working long hours, keeping up with my ashtanga practice, and helping out with a yoga teacher training. Today is the first day in a while that I have a sense of relaxation. The weather was unusually warm this past week in the northeast. I didn’t have much of an appetite, and most foods felt heavy- which means only one thing- IT”S SMOOTHIE SEASON!
I love making new concoctions in my VitaMix during the Summer. Here is one that I made this morning that turned out to be pretty tasty! I’m calling it the “Greenish Cherry Smoothie.”

Combine in blender or Vitamix:

2 cups frozen cherries

2 cups baby spinnach

1/2 of an avacado

1 tablespoon peanut butter

2 cups coconut water

1 tablespoon madagascar vanilla extract

1 tablespoon chia seeds

1 tablespoon local raw honey

Chia seeds are a fantastic addition to smoothies. Not only do they contain healthy fats, fiber and antioxidants, but they have a unique water holding capability. Each teeny seed can expand to 10 times their size when added to water, making your smoothies ultra thick!  And, unlike many other seed varieties, they are fully digestible!

I’m hoping to be posting more over the next few days! Enjoy Memorial Day weekend!
